By Baxter Wells

Mountain boards come in all shapes and sizes. What size of mountain board should you get? What style? What features should it have? If you are new to the extreme sport of mountain boarding, it can be really difficult trying to figure out what board you should buy. This article's aim is to teach you about mountain boards and help you get an idea of what kind of board you should get based on your size, and the kind of riding that you will do. Just so you know, mountain boards may also be called mountainboards, dirtboards, grassboards, or off road skateboards.

First off, how much do you weigh? That is important when it comes to selecting a mountain board. Some boards don't have weight limits, but for the ones that do, make sure you aren't above it.

What kind of riding do you plan on doing? Knowing this is essential when picking the perfect mountain board for you. Do you plan on doing lots of tricks? Then you should look for a freestyle board. Freestyle boards are generally smaller sized and lighter so you can spin and do tricks easier.

If freestyle riding doesn't appeal to you, are you the kind of rider that wants to ride down trails, grass hills, dirt roads, or anything and everything? Do you want to carve and bomb down hills? If this sounds like you, try finding a mountain board that is made for freeriding. Boards for freeriding tend to be longer and heavier, and some have larger wheels, so that it can easily roll over rougher terrain.

Maybe you are the kind of mountain boarder that wants to do everything. If you want to pull off tricks and ride down trails, you want an in-between board. They are your average sized mountain boards that are good for both freestyle riding and freeriding.

If you look online, you should be able to find lots of mountain boards to choose from. If you are one of the lucky few that have a shop near you that carries mountain boards, head on over and see what you like. Make sure that when you buy a mountain board you take into account your weight and riding preference, that way you will get one that is best for you. - 31502
